– ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WASHDOWN –

Where food and pharmaceuticals are manufactured, it is often necessary to wash and sterilize equipment. But machinery typically doesn’t appreciate high-pressure spray or heat. Pharmaceutical makers rely on wipedown cleaning and are concerned with contamination at a microscopic level. On the other hand, food and beverage makers focus on the particle level.

Both, however, use chemicals to achieve the required level of sanitation. At Tishma Technologies, we are taking added measures to make sure every component on the packaging machine can withstand the cleaning process according to your needs while taking care of your budget.

Materials

Tishma Technology Washdown Machines combine surface-treated aluminum and stainless steel parts. Parts not likely to contact food and parts that won’t be frequently washed and sterilized are made of surface-treated aluminum. Stainless steel parts are put into service where frequent high-pressure washing and sterilization are required.

ENCLOSURES

Enclosures

Depending on requirements, enclosures should provide a degree of protection against falling dirt, hose-directed water, or the entry of water during prolonged submersion at a limited depth. Our washdown machines feature electrical enclosures compliant to IP 66, IP 67, and NEMA 4, 4x, 6, 6P standards.

SMOOTH WELDS

Enclosures

Our washdown machinery features smooth welds with no spatter or crevices that make for a hygienic surface that minimizes opportunities for entrapment. Smooth, easy-to-clean components, without voids or pockets, prevent micro-organisms’ growth.

GEAR DRIVES

Enclosures

Our washdown machinery can feature gear drives designed explicitly for sanitation, as they are the most economical solution to the persistent problems of repainting or replacing.

High-end stainless motors and gearboxes incorporate hydrophobic breathers and O rings specifically for washdown. However, for less rigorous requirements, we offer more affordable solutions.

NEMA RATING

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) defines standards used in North America for various grades of electrical enclosures typically used in industrial applications.

IP RATING

SECOND NUMBER

4 Provides a degree of protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, and hose-directed water; and that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure IP66 6 = Totally protected against dust 6 = Protected against strong jets of water from all directions – Limited to ingress permitted

4X Provides a degree of protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, hose-directed water, and corrosion; and that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure IP66 6 = Totally protected against dust 6 = Protected against strong jets of water from all directions – Limited ingress permitted

6 Provides a degree of protection against falling dirt, against hose-directed water, and the entry of water during occasional temporary submersion at a limited depth, which will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure IP67 6 = Totally protected against dust 7 = Protected against the effects of temporary immersion between 15cm and 1m. Duration of test 30 minutes

6P Provides a degree of protection against falling dirt; against hose-directed water and the entry of water during prolonged submersion at a limited depth; and that will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure IP67 6 = Totally protected against dust 7 = Protected against the effects of temporary immersion between 15cm and 1m.
